Alamitos Beach Real Estate

Alamitos began in the 1850s as a ranch owned by southern California's largest landholder, Thomas Stearns. A massive drought in 1863-64 forced Stearns to foreclose, and the property was later acquired by the Bixby Land Company, which developed Alamitos' first residential area, and is credited with the founding of modern Alamitos Beach real estate. Owner John W Bixby once famously stated, “Alamitos Beach is not the Long Beach’s rival but her crowning jewel.” Alamitos was an independent community until 1909, when it was annexed by the City of Long Beach.
